Project summary
ABN AMRO needed to modernise a number of internal processes in response to changing financial services regulation. Working with teams across the bank, I designed and developed workflow applications that replaced manual processes, improved operational efficiency and helped the business meet its regulatory obligations.
The challenge
A number of important compliance processes relied on manual workflows that were time-consuming to administer and increasingly difficult to manage at scale.
My role was to understand the business and regulatory requirements, then design and develop applications that streamlined these processes while giving teams greater control and visibility.
The work included solutions for personal account dealing, regulatory approval of employees and a global client approval process.
Personal Account Dealing
Personal Account Dealing requests were particularly time-sensitive, with employees requiring approval before buying or selling shares.
I developed an application that streamlined the request and approval process, significantly reducing turnaround times. Its success attracted attention from other ABN AMRO offices around the world.
Approved Persons
Compliance teams needed an efficient way to manage employees subject to regulatory approval requirements, including their training and examination obligations.
I developed a central Approved Persons application that recorded employee details and automated the associated approval workflow, including training courses and examination bookings.
Global Key Client
Thousands of employees across Europe, the US and Asia needed access to information about the bank's key clients and their approval status.
I developed a global application that made this information widely accessible and introduced a Client Approval process, an important preliminary stage in the bank's trading procedures.
